POLICY
The Archdiocese of Miami provides orientation and training for commissioned lay ministers, parish groups, lay ecclesial movements, lay associations, and deacons to participate in detention ministry at correctional institutions in Broward, Miami-Dade, and Monroe Counties.
FOR NEW & ENDORSED VOLUNTEERS
STEP ONE
Open www.detentionministry.org and click on the VOLUNTEERS button. Follow the steps for new and endorsed volunteers.
1. VOLUNTEER PERSONAL INFORMATION FORM (VPI.) Scroll down the VOLUNTEERS page to find the VPI form.
2. PASTORAL REFERENCE LETTER FORM (PRL). Scroll down the VOLUNTEERS page to find the PRL form.

STEP TWO
Register for the 4-HOUR ONSITE TRAINING FOR NEW & ENDORSED VOLUNTEERS
Click the PROGRAMS button, choose, and register for a 4-HOUR ONSITE TRAINING FOR NEW & ENDORSED VOLUNTEERS available.
STEP THREE
The Ministry of Detention Office will issue the ministerial endorsement letter for one year after steps 1 and 2 are completed.
STEP FOUR
The endorsed volunteer must attend the training session of the correctional institution and submit to the correctional authority the ministerial endorsement letter issued by the Archdiocesan Office of Detention Ministry.
IMPORTANT NOTE
TBA for the endorsed volunteers (regular and occasional) in 2024 will be available for the annual 2- HOUR ONLINE REFRESHER TRAINING.
